Oskar has been WBC’s lead pastor for the past 16 years. He came from Ontario, where he grew up, studied and worked, before moving to BC. He graduated from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto with an MDiv and Regent College in Vancouver with a ThM. He is passionate about helping people understand and apply God’s Word, because it is through the renewal of our minds that we are transformed (Rom. 12:2). For Oskar there is no greater joy than digging deeper into a dense theological question over a grande, extra hot latte. When he is done with theological pondering he comes home to three energetic boys that bring him back to earth. Both Oskar and his wife, Arta, are of Latvian descent, so it is no surprise that there is always a musical instrument being played in the house. Oskar believes that following Jesus will become increasingly complicated, and that is why we must make the resolution: "as for me and my house we will serve the Lord" (Josh. 24:15).
